Training:

1. Tracking. Cash is being taught to track a scent of an object or person.
2. Defensive tactics. Cash is learning various defensive mechanisms to assist his law enforcement handler, such as being able to bark upon command, and, if necessary, take a suspect down or detain a suspect until the handler is able to intervene. Cash is also trained that, if something happens to his handler, he will defend the handler until help arrives.
3. Narcotics Detection. Cash is being trained to detect various narcotics for purposes of K-9 searches in high schools, automobiles, homes and other locations.

After he is certified, Cash will become a full law enforcement officer, and will be permitted to accompany his handler anywhere his handler goes. Cash is constantly in training, and has a daily regiment that includes trianing activities for the many talents that he is learning. Cash will be a member of the Susquehanna County Sheriff's Department and the Susquehanna County Law Enforcement Task Force. Whenever he is used for narcotics detection, he will be working as a member of the Susquehanna County Law Enforcement Task Force.

Dr. Robert Sullivan, Southtown Animal Hospital has graciously agreed to provide free veterinary care for Cash for so long as he is a law enforcement officer, and, through Dr. Sullivan, Purina has donated Cash's dog food for as long as he is a law enforcement officer. We are grateful to Dr. Sullivan for his services, and Purina for its generosity.
